Members log on to online banking


Hundreds of Wolverhampton City Credit Union members have logged on to its new online banking facility. And after just two weeks of the trial launch, around 20 per cent of transactions are now conducted online.

WCCU is set to become one of a handful of credit unions in the UK to provide online banking to its 7,000 plus members. 

Manager Matt Goulding said: “Members told us in a service improvement survey we conducted earlier this year that they wanted to be able to bank online. So we’re delighted to have developed this major service improvement with our partners, Progress, one of the leading suppliers of online banking systems for the credit union sector in the UK and Ireland.

“Before we officially launch next month, we’re inviting members to trial the new system. We want to know if it’s easy for them to use, whether it provides the features they need - and most importantly, if they are likely to use it regularly.

“We recognise that if we’re to compete with the high interest payday lenders, we need to provide ethical financial services in the most convenient way possible.”

One member commented: “I just wanted to say that I have registered with on line banking and have been very impressed so far with the service. My needs are fairly basic, requiring balance details and the potential to transfer from time to time. So this service suits me completely.”

To bank online, members need their PIN number (available by registering on the website or calling the office on 01902 572340), membership number and date of birth.

 

Online banking enables members to:

 

·      Make same-day external bank transfers online between 10.00am and 3.30pm from Monday to Friday. And when you bank online,there will be no 50p transfer charge

·      Add new bank details to make bank transfers

 

·      Transfer money between your WCCU accounts 24/7 (e.g. from regular shares to mandatory savings; members can also transfer from shares to loan)

 

·      Check your balances 24/7 (regular shares, mandatory savings, loan balances, prepaid card)

 

·      Request eStatements that are available to view the next day in the eStatements section of the Members’ Area of the website

 

·      Apply for a loan or top-up loan online. To complete theapplication, you will need to send to us additional documents (such as bank statement, address confirmation) either by posting or handing them in to our Worcester Street branch or scanning or taking pictures and screenshots of them and emailing us at contactus@wccul.co.uk

 

·      Sign up for eStatements, electronic reports, online newsletter and SMS alerts

 

Members cannot:

 

·      Make same-day external bank transfers after 3.30pm Monday to

·      Friday - these will be processed by 9.30am the next working day

·      Instantly receive eStatements - these are generated by the

·      system the next day. However they can view up to five pages of

·      transactions in the online banking screen

·      Receive their loan decision online - depending on how they wish to be notified, we will call, post a letter or email
