Good evening and welcome to this year’s Annual General Meeting. I’m Steve Cartwright. It is my privilege to address you today at our 2024 Annual General Meeting. As Chair of the Board, I am grateful for the opportunity to reflect on the past year and share our vision for the future with you. New Software Partnership

Wolverhampton City Credit Union has selected XRS Collector as it’s Credit Control Software Partner. Expert Revenue Systems (XRS), is a leading supplier of credit control and collections software. WCCU has selected it’s cloud-based XRS Collector solution to enable more efficient and effective collection of member arrears.

Road Map to Opening

Wolverhampton City Credit Union is Going Cashless. From Monday August 2nd 2021, WCCU will no longer be accepting cash deposits or permitting cash withdrawals at our Wolverhampton branch.

Our Board of Directors

The Credit Union is run by a Board of Directors. They set out the strategy for the Credit Union and challenge the Chief Executive Officer.

Chair - Steven Cartwright

Chair - Steven Cartwright

Steven joined the Board as a Director in May 2019 and works for a local council as a head of service for projects and programmes. He is now Chair of the Board and sits on the Audit and Risk Committee as well as the Remuneration and Nominations Committee. He wants WCCU to support more people to help them avoid exploitation from payday lenders and loan sharks.

Director - Oliver Ford

Oliver joined the Board as a Director in May 2019 and is a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and sits on and Chairs the Marketing and Business Development Committee. He is a transport planner at a local council and wants WCCU to be Wolverhampton’s financial cooperative, powered by the people.

Director - Keith Waitt

Director - Keith Waitt

Keith joined the Board as a Director in September 2023. He has spent all of his career in the financial services sector in both the UK and the USA with most of his experience in risk management, client service, and learning & development. He believes that he is joining WCCU at a challenging but exciting time in its growth, and hopes he can help WCCU make a real positive difference in the economic prospects of the community and its people.

Samantha joined the Board as a Director in September 2023. She believes Credit Unions play an important role in the eco financial system and wanted to give her time and experience to her local Credit Union on their journey, supporting the members of the community that may otherwise be left in the cold when it comes to access to financial services.

Director - Shamser

Director - Shamser

Shamsher joined the Board in January 2025 as a Non-Executive Board Director. Shamsher is a qualified solicitor and works for a local authority as legal lead for corporate matters. Shamsher has substantial experience advising on commercial/contractual matters, risk management and governance. As a Non-Executive Board Director, Shamsher is eager to ensure that WCCU through effective governance continues to place its members who live, volunteer and study within the Wolverhampton and Dudley area are at the heart of its decision making.

Director - Dawn

Dawn brings a wealth of experience from the not for profit and voluntary sector established over the last 20 years and is committed to helping people with their financial well being. She is pleased to be joining the board of WCCU to share her knowledge and expertise to help our local communities access affordable banking, along with advice and guidance around savings and debt.
