Mastercard Debit Card

Mastercard®

Our Mastercard Debit Card is just the ticket for people who want to manage their money on the go. You can transfer money to your Debit Card from your credit union account.

For a £2.50 monthly fee, you can:

  • Use your Debit Card in high street shops and online, wherever you see the Mastercard® logo
  • Check your balance with online banking or mobile app
  • Move money from your credit union account to your Debit Card instantly with online banking or our mobile app
  • Withdraw money at cashpoints (ATMs)
  • Request up to £50 cashback at the till when you purchase items in high street shops
  • Use for contactless payments of up to £100

Please Note: WCCU has been informed of a current fraudulent scam targeting Credit Union members. This involves the fraudster masking the CU service number to lead the member to believe they are speaking with the Credit Union. The cardholders are being advised that their cards have been cancelled and are being asked to divulge personal information. Cardholders are advised to be extremely vigilant if they receive a call from someone perceived to be from our Credit Union.
Members should not share any personal, card or bank information with the caller. If in doubt, please make sure you hang the call up properly for at least 5 minutes. Then call the number on the back of your debit card or contact our friendly team. If you receive a genuine call from WCCU, we would not ask you to divulge any card details in full.

Mastercard® SecureCode™ provides added protection to your Debit Card.

Introducing Mastercard SecureCode: Your own private code for added peace of mind when shopping online. It is a new service to enhance your existing Mastercard card. Your own private code means added protection against unauthorised use of your card when you shop online.

  • Existing cardholders have been notified by post of the upcoming security addition to the card.
  • This means that when you check out online, a secure code is sent to your phone by text message. When you enter the code on the corresponding screen, your purchase is completed.
  • You will therefore need a mobile phone in order to shop on websites that use Mastercard SecureCode. If you don't have a mobile phone, we suggest that you consider purchasing a cheap pay-as-you-go phone to ensure full functionality online.
